After working until very late some Planning Team members were up at the break of dawn to get to The Hague early enough to meet the Roverway 2018 participants, IST and other people involved with the start of this amazing event. Arriving at 8 am the team quickly found out they weren’t the first to arrive. Some participants had been for a while, from less than an hour sitting near the registering office and waiting for it to open to waking up after a night under the open sky.

Getting to The Hague has been different for many people, but whatever the way everyone got there, by bus, by plane, alone, in patrols, if you have just arrived or have been in the country for some time, walking onto the beach must have been pretty impressive for most. Some could put up tents straight away, but some could have a nap under the big tarps or just relax and enjoy the view from the shade.

Some Portuguese left early Sunday morning and arrived on Amsterdam airport late at night, destined to spend the night over there. Getting here felt like walking into summer as it had rained lots and lots. Some had hoped for a little cooler weather, but the view of the sea and temperature of the water for a nice swim made up for quite a bit.

Opposites Attract

This Roverway edition
will focus on the personal
development of the participating Rovers and Rangers as part of their role in society. The Roverway will provide the environment in which Rovers and Rangers can interchange experiences, knowledge and ideas. This exchange of experiences will be encouraged through the three educational objectives, which all centralize around society and intercultural learning.
